what is beauty?

Today I'm having a rant. I am tired of seeing "beautiful" people in magazines that seem to all be blonde, tall, wavy flowing hair and perfect skin! They grace our magazines every where!!!

How can we begin to teach our lovely little girls that they are beautiful just the way they are, when all they see are images media driven perfection?

I believe we are created in the image of Christ. He made us all individual, amazing and wonderful. He is the creator of the Earth. The same earth that has some of the most beautiful scenery I will ever see with my own eyes. The sun sets, the rolling country hills, the beaches, the cliffs, the snow capped mountains and the magnificent sea. I believe if he can be so creative with the earth, He can be just as creative with us!!!

We all look different but hold an amazing beauty and worth just because He made us. Look at the women below, all beautiful but completely different. It is their smiles that bring out the true beauty.

So when you are feeling like a frump, you don't want to wash your hair or put on your Sunday best....just remember that God made you amazingly and gave you an awesome smile to wear. The best thing is... a smile goes with any outfit or any situation!!!!

Julie Goodwin's coming to town

I have been MIA the last week! The truth is that I've been recovering from the past week of birthdays to hospital visits to working and being generally a busy mummy!

It wouldn't be right not to post the pictures of my little boys trip to hospital. As I posted before, he had a fall on the bike and fractured his front tooth. So off to hospital for a removal!!! yes I sobbed, I can candidly talk about it now but it felt devasted at the time!!

the car trip was exciting...all the way to Sydney!!!

he looked so brave in the big bed!!!

being a brave tiger!!!
"Actually" he said " I'm a little nervous". How sweet!

a cuddle from mummy after the ordeal always helps to make you feel better!!

So that was last week. To tell you the truth I've been just relaxing and leaving the house work to pile up! I'm  trying to go to bed earlier, sleep better, eat better and look after myself a little more. I'm realising that I need to just to keep up with the gang!!

I say that I've been relaxing and cast my memory to the past week. What a joke!!! I've had work, swimming carnivals, dinners out with family, staff meetings, football practice, cricket practice, swimming squad, dinners to cook and my new adventure.....a radio spot or two!!!! hahahaha Yes you read it here first....I'm on the radio!!!

I actually laugh about this a bit because I find it exciting and a new challenge in my life. It is something that I'm doing just for me at the moment (hence the whole inward facing, all about me season that I'm having). I love it. It's fun, it's talking (which I can do under water) and I'm learning something new. I'm actually interviewing the Master Chef Champion Julie Goodwin next week with my partner in crime Salsa (Hamish)! Hamish is the professional and I'm tagging along for the ride.

It is a community radio station here on the Central Coast. I encourage you to tune in on a Friday 4pm - 6pm. Rhema 94.9 . We have alot of fun, we don't solve the worlds problems but have a laugh and have lots of special/suprise guests!

I like to research my subjects and my little friend has a blog!! She has recipes and she is funny!!!! Here is a little paragraph or two I found.....

I was asked to come into the Today show this morning, even though I am normally on Tuesdays, because a very special guest was going to be on the show.

Pat Farmer ran nearly 21,000km – two full marathons every day, with no days off, for ten months – and arrived home yesterday.  Reunited now with his two beautiful teenaged children,  Pat ran to raise awareness and funds for the excellent work of Red Cross.

Not many people know this, but I am a runner myself.  I run out of petrol, I run late, I run into friends, my mascara runs and sometimes I even have the runs.  But despite my obvious dedication to running, I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to run. Two. Marathons. A day. For TEN MONTHS!  The mental strength, the dedication to the dream, the vision, the philanthropic spirit…I am in awe of Pat’s achievement.

Now he’s home, and he wants a lamb pie.  And by God, the man is going to get a lamb pie.  The recipe’s below, with step-by-step pics.

So there is the catch up this week. Hope you have an awesome weekend!!!Don't forget to tune in on Friday 4pm - 6pm

Barbie Girl

This is a quick post to show you my creation! It wa a late night before the party but I managed to fit in one of my favourite activites....decorating cakes!! I really do enjoy the challenge and seeing the final product! I was impressed this year!

Ruby had a wonderful time and had just a simple party with a few friends from preschool. It was cute to see them play pass the parcel and musical statues. There was even a good old fashioned lolly hunt. Cutting of the cake ( not that I wanted to!) and a lolly bag to take home. A great success and one tired princess riding a sugar high.

Here are my favourite pictures of the day...

my boys

I don't often post pictures of the boys. It's not that They aren't cute or that I don't think that they are awesome, it's just that sometimes I forget to !!!

Todays post is dedicated to the boys in my life! I love them to bits and thank the Lord above that I have lots of strong people in my life to move furniture!! Given my tendency to rearrange rooms frequently!!

Julian

We have been having an adventure with this little cherub this week.
I had booked him a dentist appointment for a Thursday morning. I was concerned about a little hole in the back molar.

I was sitting on the verandah the night before having one of those gratitude moments. I was thinking how blessed my children have been with no broken bones or serious accidents. I thought how painful it is to see your child in pain and not be able to stop it. I thought how terrible it is be to loose a baby or a close loved one. I was feeling so grateful that my babies were all happy, healthy and safe.

They were busy riding bikes, playing, greeting the neighbours as they came home from work. All was well in my little patch of the coast.

Until I hear the mighty scream!!!
Yep it snapped me out of my dream like state quick smart. My first reaction was to determine which child was it? Some are known to be drama kings and queens! It continued so I knew it must be a little more serious.

Down came Julian on the driveway...screaming. I couldn't see the blood and he was running so how bad could it be? eh?

My precious one had fell off his bike and fractured his front tooth....VERTICALLY!! OUCH!!!

It was very sore..I just thought..."Well at least we have a dentist appointment tomorrow! Organised mum eh? Pity it was just a coincidence!!

To cut a long story short, my boy had to visit a paediatric dentist and is now booked in for hospital to have the tooth removed!! I'm devo and don't think kids with missing teeth are cute!!!

So I took a picture with my baby to remember the good old days....when he had a tooth!

Wishing you all the best in hospital my sweetness!!!
Mummy loves you!!! xxx

Happy Birthday

My little baby girl turns three tomorrow! We are having a little party for her next week but the official day is Saturday! I can't believe how fast it has gone. She is truely a blessing and I love her soooo much. She has inspired me to become a blogger hence the Ruby Belle title, due to all her adventures. I feel it is a good idea to take a little time to have a trip down memory lane...

There has been the sudo cream incident...
