sand between your toes

What a beautiful country  in which we live. I'm so blessed to live close to the beach and be able to take time out of the busy day to feel the sand between my toes. Last week I did just that.

This blog is about my everyday adventures and a record of my busy days as I navigate life with three kids and a husband. Instead of stalking other peoples blogs, I stalked my own!! lol I spent time flicking through old posts and sipping my tea. It was great. I smiled as I recalled some of my favourite days spent with the family.

It really puts stuff into perspective. You really can't remember the day at work you had, the type of meal you served that night or if you brought the washing in wet or dry that day. The things I remember are the smiles, the laughter, the smells and the time spent with the kids and husband.

I encourage anyone who is thinking of starting the blogging journal to do so. Yes other peole can read it but if you aren't doing anything illegal that should be ok!!!! You actually find that there are many people who think the same way or feel the same way. I love your comments!! I get readers from Turkey to Russia . If my mundane life helps peolple feel not so alone then that is awesome!

So back to the beach....getting a bit off track!!! Here are some of my favourite pic of the quick trip to the beach. Bring on Summer!!!!

happy birthday Mr Ruby Belle

I just had to post to wish my amazing husband a wonderful birthday. He is spending the day tomorrow at cricket (something that he loves).

He really is a great guy. We have definately had our ups and downs but we have been together for 15 years and married for 12. He is such a fantastic Dad that on those days when I'm hormonal, I find a tear in my eye as I watch him play with the kids! He loves spending time with them! He has been known to come home early just to play in the backyard with them.

I love how he calls my Ruby a princess more often than her real name, I love how he encourages the boys and rolls around the floor with them. I love the family moments that make up terrific memories.

Yes he loves his sport. It killed him not to be playing it for a year! I could get angry and whinge because he doesn't spend enough time with us (believe me-  been there, done that!), but the truth is, I am blessed. He could be down the pub, drinking, gambling and hanging with the boys. He is not. He is playing sport. I have found over the many years that he is a better husband and dad when he has time out to do the things he loves. So I embrace the sport and watch my young follow in his foot steps. All they want is to be just like him!
Thanks for being a lovely husband. I love you honey!!!!

Jules can't wait to join you!

This bathroom is somewhere I could find myself relaxing in!

I had such a suprise this week from my best friend. We are both in looove with everything Donna! Unfortunately we aren't that fond of her cooking shows but both wish for a kitchen make over
"Donna Style."

So we wait for the magazine to arrive in the mail, gush over the pages and get excited over her recipes. My beautiful friend has even made it down to her store in Sydney! I find her obsession slightly worse than mine!! lol. Any way I can't complain because she bought me a special gift!

feeling refreshed

Hi guys I'm back! I had an awesome time away just to touch base with the man who lives with me!!! hahaha. It was great to relax, eat, walk and check out the sights of such a lovely town.

We promised ourselves not to chat constantly about the kids. (very hard)!! Every time I walked the streets window shoppping , I thought....harry would love that, that would look good in Ruby's room etc. I had to stop myself. As mums we are so caught up in the lives of our children it is important to take time out for ourselves.

A big thankyou to our parents for holding the fort whilst we were gone. They are the best and we couldn't do it without them!!!! XXXXXXX Thankyou!!!!!

oh and I did say that I would get back to you about my stay at home adventures!! Well we had a blast!!! Chalk drawing, goop making and eating watermelon!! Totally recommend a day at home!

Playtime at home

Hello there!!
I'm back from my amazing getaway but more about that later.

I'm planning to do nothing for two days. Yes completely nothing!
I 'm going to try and stay at home, not drive a car or go to the shops. I'll leave the TV off and just relax. If I don't have it I'll go without ( or trade something with my beautiful neighbours)!
I feel some days that I'm going, going, going and never stop. Unfortunatley I haven't spent that much time with the kids these holidays so I'm determined to just play.

So chalk on the driveway, goop in the garden, cooking and games are on the menu. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm sure we will have a ball! The greatest part is that I have my very best friend living next door with her kids. So there will be friends for them to play with and I'll have a friend to drink coffee with in my pyjamas!!!

I'll post a few pictures tomorrow but it is getting late and I really need beauty sleep!!! hahha

Madly Packing

yes the kids are gone and I'm madly packing to go away for the weekend. The weather doesn't look all that good, so I'm struggling to know what to leave at home and what to squeeze in the bag! Maybe you have something special on this weekend. I've got some cute outfits that I love to share with you!!!

quick getaway

yes the time has come to escape the world in which I live...the washing, cooking, cleaning and leave it all behind! Well just for a few days!!!!

My wonderful husband and I are going away for the weekend to  the lovely south coast. I;m very excited! It will be a combined effort of grandparents to look after the cheribs whilst we are away! God bless them!! I'm not sure if they are confident to have three children for a whole 3 days!!

I'm sure they will be ok. I say they can do what they want with them! As long as they are alive and well when we get back! Three nights of nuggets and chips for dinner can't hurt....can it?

It is a well deserved celebration for both Karl and I as we have had a "special" year. Lots of up, downs, curve balls and blessings from the good man upstairs! We can finally smile so it's time to kick up the heels and take some time out for us!

So the blog will be a bit light this week as I prepare for the big weekend. I laugh at how much organisation goes into a three day escape. Sometimes I find myself thinking if it is all worth it?

Then I remind myself how important it is to take time out for each other. With life taking over control some days, it's hard to spend that quality time together. I will remember what a freind said once...

"the best thing you can do for your children is have a great relationship with your spouse. Let them see how much you love each other, let them know how important you are to each other."

So I say...I'm doing it for you kids! It helps with the mothers guilt of being away from them for too long!!! hahahhaa

so before I leave I will post my daily stalks....

ok ok I'll stop with my new favourite blog!! All these awesome pictures come straight from Erins blog called House of Turquoise I can't stop. I rrrreeaaaally want to change my colour scheme at home. I'll have to work on that and convince my husband!!! hahahah
Have a great week!!!!

one minute make up

I love this idea from Bella Mumma. We are all time poor as mums. So here is a trick or two for you!!!!

Here's the absolute bare minimum make-up - (that takes about a minute to apply) - to give your features maximum impact...
* DOT ON UNDER-EYE CONCEALER - to wake up the whole face.
* SLICK ON A ROSE COLOURED LIPSTICK OR GLOSS – it’s the two-second way to give the illusion you're wearing make-up when you're not.
* CURL LASHES AND BRUSH ON MASCARA – to instantly wake-up the eyes.
* SWEEP BROWS UP AND OUT – great brows always make an impact.
Voila - gorgeous!

thankyou Nikki for inspiring all the busy mums out there!!!!
